Are you a master gardener?
Your Questions
- No. I'm not even an amateur gardener, but things grow for me. I like that and I like anything that grows. Mostly.
- Time is my most precious commodity. Why confuse the situation looking up proper spellings that I don't use half the time anyways. Nobody else knows what I'm talking about when speaking them with scientific names, either. My Latin is really, awful, too! Really, KISS plays a huge role in my gardening right now. (Alright, I slip them in from time to time, but shhh, don't tell anyone!)
- Keep it Simple, Silly (or insert your own term). Less is more, more is less. Replicate appropriate growing conditions and hope for harvest with little modification. Keeps the bugs away and prevent the mice from play. You get the idea.
- Tis the nature of the beast. I'm a photographer. I'm an old techie, it is merely as I said the nature of the beast. I want somewhere to look back next year and recall what worked, what didn't, and what I grew like gangbusters (though it's too early to tell for 2013, I'm hoping something grows gangbusters for us!). Besides, if I happen upon like minded individuals who share the same interest. I don't know too many people who have an interest in vegetable or other gardening. Straight lines of shrub kill me. But if you've read the about and my lay of the land for 2013, you know I have straight lines to work with. C'mon, I'm growing corn knowing I'll be lucky if a single cob gets pollinated, but rather I'm growing it for texture, height variation, and colour (Martian Jewels, need I say more? How 'bout some purple in that sea of green!)
- Absolutely! I don't really have anything that isn't readily available you might possibly want, but I am always open to trying different heirloom and organic varieties of, well any and everything!
- And I don't readily carry a camera "out to the field" so to speak. Really, I typically have my cell phone in one pocket or another, so that's what I use. If I didn't make do, my cameras would be full of dirt, muddy hands, pollen, and might even end up with an unwanted bath. I really hope to catch some fine art moments during bloom time later, though! I also didn't realize I would need or want a journal in blog form, so the moment is gone to capture seedling progress in a perfect thirds view.
- You may certainly link to my photos as any useful shots appear with permission. However, I do expect full credit with a reciprocal link as I would certainly do for you. You may not beg, borrow, or steal them or I will have to break out the big intellectual property guns, and I'd really rather share than do that. So let's keep it chill and simple. I'd love to see what you are doing with the pictures!
- Not any and everything in this case. I'd like to stay as close to certifiably organic as possible, so natural AND organic products are the direction my attention sways.
- To plant it, sprout it, grow it to full adult maturity. Overall, our goal is a season full of fresh eats and some left over for freezer stock. I will be most happy if only my Romas and tomatillos grow so I can hoard salsa verde for months. My garlic is also an amusement for a first time garlic grower and I hope it is really successful. This is a first for me, along with asparagus.
